As North Greenland is in the Arctic Region, the climate and seasons are phenomenal and unique. The winters are long but can be experienced in different ways as if the winter is divided in three:  1. Polar night, 2. Christmas season and 3. winter with sun.

Even though the summer is and seems short - the days are long and sun shines 24/7. In between, there are also spring and autumn, and on this page, you can read all about each season, and be guided in what to wear, when visiting.

How to dress for polar night and winter
  • Windproof outwear of jacket and trousers 
  • Layers of wool of clothing shirt, sweater and trousers  
  • Warm woolen socks  
  • Windproof hat and mittens/gloves 
  • Heartwarming scarf 
  • Warm boots – it is a good idea to have spikes for slippery roads  
  • Remember reflective accessory for jacket or backpack, so cars can see you from afar 
  • Sunscreen when the sun is back, snow and sun light are more powerful than you think
